It’s January 1st and you know that means! CHANGING EVERYTHING!! Be better, stronger, smarter and eat your freakin’ vegetables.
Today is the first day of my Whole30! I’m a veteran, this is my 3rd Whole30. Well technically my 4th. I did a Whole12 when I was newly pregnant with my first daughter but was bested by morning sickness. But any who – as any other veteran of a Whole30 knows day 1 is the BEST!
I am so motivated. My meals are prepped. I skipped through every last aisle of Whole Foods and dutifully inspected every label of every items that entered my cart. I know that the new-ness will be rubbing off all too soon but I’m happy to bask in it for now.
Whether I am doing a Whole30 or not I need a meal plan. It is always my goal to only visit the grocery store once a week – this leaves me more free time and more money to spend during my free time. Sitting down and choosing our weeks menu is imperative to realizing this goal. Linked below is our meal plan for the week. Jovie, the three year old, is incredibly picky. I’ll be serving most of our meals to her deconstructed so she can sort out items that she is familiar with. I also have back-up Whole30 approved hot dogs if we have any total meltdown days.
Our first dinner was from the new, Whole30 Fast and Easy cookbook and it came out pretty good! There is no way in hell this would be a fast meal if you don’t buy pre-prepped shrimp (shelled, deveined, etc). And I would definitely recommend purchasing the zucchini noodles if you want this to truly be fast but overall I think we had the whole meal on the table in 30-40 minutes. I did think…”Wow..this is like..too many veggies” which is a pretty good indicator of where my current eating habits are.
I’ll check back in when the sugar cravings hit and I want to kill all the things.
